Concentrate on 6 fundamentals for improved hitting.

The ProCut Power Training Program for hitters was developed with an emphasis on the fundamentals of batting. Whether you play hardball or softball, fast pitch or slow, from the Little Leagues to the major leagues; understanding and using the fundamentals is essential to your success as a batter.

To create the perfect swing, remember these six fundamentals - Stance, Wind-Up, Rotate/Bat-Lag, Contact, Follow-Through, Freeze to Balance. Here are the details, step by step:

2) Hitters Wind-up

From the stance, a hitter needs to wind up to generate more power. This starts about the time the pitcher releases the ball. The wind up has two steps:

  • First is the stride. The front foot moves slowly, softly, and straight (4-6 inches) toward the pitcher.

  • Second, about the same time as the stride, only the hands and arms move slightly back for added power.

IMPORTANT: The front foot's toes should not point at the pitcher during any part of the swing to the point of bat lag. Also remember, that when a hitter strides, the head does not move.
